  1. Review of Special Quadrilaterals

  2. ShapeReview • Rectangle • Quadrilateral with 4 right angles • All rectangles are parallelograms • Rhombus • Quadrilateral with four congruent sides • All rhombuses are parallelograms • Square • Quadrilateral with 4 right angles and four congruent sides • Squares are rectangles, rhombuses, and parallelograms • Since rectangles, rhombuses, and squares are all parallelograms, they share ALL of the properties of parallelograms.

  3. For each quadrilateral listed, identify the properties by putting an “X” in each applicable box.

  5. Conditions for Rhombuses, Rectangles, and Squares • If you have a parallelogram and… • the diagonals are perpendicular, then it is a rhombus. • one diagonal bisects a pair of opposite angles, then it is a rhombus. • the diagonals are congruent, then it is a rectangle. • two consecutive sides are congruent, it is a rhombus. • one angle is a right angle, it is a rectangle. • it is both a rectangle and a rhombus, then it is a square.

  6. Is each parallelograms below a rhombus, rectangle, or square? 1. 3. • 4. Answers: 1. rhombus 2. square 3. rhombus 4.rectangle
