Partnerships and Professional Development • ThinkFinity • New design and new features • Search by WV state standard • New website for “power users” -Thinkfinity Community - allows for social bookmarking of Thinkfinity and NON Thinkfinity sites, creation of groups and the ability to post or create documents for sharing. • 21st Century Education contest, sponsored by Thinkfinity, Teachers demonstrate use of 21st Century education in the classroom.  Ten $2,000 mini-grant winners who can use their grants on the Tools for Schools contract Office of Instructional Technology

  5. Learning Object Repository (LOR) • LOR is searchable database of Learning Objects (LO) • A learning object includes • One or more educational objectives • Digital content • Practice activities • Assessment tools • Metadata Office of Instructional Technology

BTOP Grant • $126,323,296 West Virginia Statewide Broadband Infrastructure Project-Middle Mile extending broadband services across the state by leveraging existing infrastructure to build a middle mile network with Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) over Microwave and Fiber • Visit website to review grant application http://www.recovery.wv.gov/programs/Pages/program.aspx?category=broadband Office of Instructional Technology

BTOP Grant • 471 schools will be receiving new routers in Summer/Fall 2010 – (based on list of schools in grant applications - schools without fiber connections) • Counties must work with WVDE Network Engineers and RESA Router Technicians to submit TCRs for fiber connections • Circuit requests (TCRs) from MPLS contract for 10MB or 100MB fiber connections will be approved by WVDE and sent to Broadband Implementation Team for approval of fiber builds Office of Instructional Technology
