JCCC Campus Farm History • Originally created through a grant-funded partnership with Kansas State University, circa 2007-2008 • Originally located 20 miles from JCCC’s Main Campus, on K-State property • With the dissolution of the partnership, the farm “moved” to the main campus • In the fall of 2010, roughly 2.5 acres of field space was dedicated to chemical-free vegetable production

  4. What We Have Now… • 2.5 Acre, Chemical-Free Vegetable Production Farm • Support for the Sustainable Agriculture Entrepreneurship Certificate Program • Focus on “Local Marketing” • Produce is used primarily on-campus • Focus on manual farming techniques

  28. Funding... Primarily Externally Funded Student Sustainability Committee Student “Green Fee”

  29. Green Fee • Self-Imposed by Student Senate in 2009 • 1 Dollar per student, per credit hour, per semester • Student Enrollment roughly 21,000 • Students average 8 hrs per semester • Generates approximately $400,000 per fiscal year in discretionary funding.
