Working with business and industry – the Responsibility Deal • Aims to create an environment that supports people to make informed, balanced choices and to help them lead healthier lives. • A voluntary partnership between business, government and wider stakeholders, including public health and NGOs • Opportunity for business and other organisations to lead the way in positively shaping the environment to improve health. • Action on: Food, Alcohol, Physical activity and Health at Work

  3. Health at work pledges • RD launched March 2011. Since then ten collective pledges. • H1 – Chronic Conditions Guides • H2 – Occupational Health Standards • H3 – Health and wellbeing reports • H4 – Healthier staff restaurants • H5 – Smoking Cessation/Respiratory Health • H6 – Staff Health Checks • H7 – Mental Health and Wellbeing • H8 – Young People in the Workplace • H9 – Domestic Violence • H10 – Construction and Civil Engineering Industries DH – Leading the nation’s health and care

  4. Health at work network achievements: • Over 460 partners • 4 of the 5 most popular pledges • SME Mentoring pilots • Annual external stakeholder events • Sector-specific pledge for construction • Construction Partnership Forum DH – Leading the nation’s health and care

Feedback • A large majority of partners agree: • that the RD effectively taps into the potentialfor businesses and other organisations to improve public health • that the RD has helped them to have conversations about improving public health within their organisations • that the RD has given additional credibility to their company • that it has been useful to be part of a network and learn from each other • Partners also told us: • there is a need for all key players to drive this work forward • there is scope for greater support and direction for some partners DH – Leading the nation’s health and care
