Today’s Agenda • 9-9:30AM – Breakfast and Welcome at the Ohio Historical Society • 9:30-10:30AM – Work Shopping Lesson Plans • 10:30-11:30AM– Discussion and Hands-on Quilting Activity, Molly Uline-Olmstead, Project Coordinator •  11:45-12:45PM – Discussion and Hands-on Paper Making Activity, Bill Mahon, The Ohio Historical Society • 12:45–2PM– Lunch at North Market • 2-3:30PM– Scholar Panel Discussion with Dr. Melissa Wolf, Dr. Stuart Hobbs, Dr. Tracy Teslow, and James Tichgelaar • 3:30-3:45PM – Wrap-up

  3. Lesson Plan Assignment • Your final lesson plan should: • Use the Picturing America collection • Use primary source materials related to the collection • Be something you will actually use! • Lesson Plans with any attachments or worksheets will be due Sept. 16th 2011 as a PDF or Word.doc.

Lesson Plan Hints • Consider the information and techniques we have covered with the understanding that not all of you teach this time period or these topics. • There is probably a broader theme you can still utilize, i.e. identity, mapping, migration… • Don’t forget the primary sources on your CD and in the presentations

  6. Materials • American Quilts: The Democratic Art, 1780-2007, by Robert Shaw • Trash-to-treasure Papermaking, by Arnold Grummer

  7. Assorted • Stipend and CEUs • Stipend = $300; CEUs = 22 hours • You will receive both of these at the end of the program after the final lesson plan is submitted.
