  1. Welcome to ProfSantangelo’s Italian Class! Room 303

Allow me to introduce myself… • Cum laude Graduate of The Ohio State University (OH!) • Degrees and certifications: English, Italian, Education, TEFL, ESOL, ACTFL and Special Needs • Master of Education from the University of Florida with a 4.0 GPA • Current Curriculum and Instruction doctoral student at FIU • Lived and taught in Italy for 3 years • Fifth year teaching at Somerset Academy

  3. Materials and Grading • 3-ring binder with 4 dividers for classroom work • Italian-English dictionary (not mandatory) • Notecards to make flashcards Italian 1, 2 & 3 (high school courses) & Beginners (middle school only) • Exams 35% • Quizzes 20% • Classwork/Participation/READ 25% • Homework 10% • Projects 10%

  4. Homework Assignments • EVERY CHAPTER • Vocabulary flashcard assignments • Italian 1-3 only: workbook packet/ flash cards • NO late homework accepted • Quizzes given on a bi-weekly basis • Tests are typically every 3-4 weeks • Vocabulary Quiz every chapter • Oral Quiz every quarter • One Project per chapter (Italian 1-3) • One Project per quarter (Italian Beginners)

  5. Italian Tutoring services • Free Italian tutoring will be offered EVERY MONDAY • Honor Society Members will tutor Italian students • Room 303 from 2:30-3:15 on Mondays

  6. WEBSITE Information • Somerset Website: updates, test/quiz/project dates. • NOT day to day assignments!Students must have plannersand learn responsibility. • Pinnacle- Parents have 24-7 access to grades. • https://gradebook.browardschools.com/PIV User name-Student ID Pin Code- Student DOB

  7. Exciting Opportunities Study Abroad Verona Trip: For Italian 3/AP students only (Spring Break 2015) • Somerset trip: London, France and Italy! June 17-30, 2015 • Meeting: Thursday, September 25 at 6p.m. in Room 303 • Prices will be raised on Oct.1, 2014 • Italian Honor Society: Students can sign up through Sep. 19 (for Italian 2/3/AP students only)
