Egyptian Cobra Escapes, Found After Week-Long Search at Bronx Zoo

On March 25, 2011, an Egyptian cobra escaped her cage at the Bronx Zoo, triggering a frantic one-week search by officials. Egyptian cobras may not be inherently aggressive, but their venom can be deadly, even from a young snake. Zoo director James J. Breheny highlighted the potential danger of the cobra's escape and emphasized the importance of safety measures. Luckily, the young cobra was not on public display and was located 200 feet from her cage, hiding under pipes. The incident sparked interest, leading to the creation of a humorous Twitter account following the cobra's adventures.
