  2. Historical fiction • Historical fiction is made up of stories that take place in a certain time and place in the past. • EX. A Boy at War, Across 5 Aprils, Ben and Me, The Butterfly, Charlie Skedaddle, Sign of Beaver, Titanic Crossing and Dear America Series

  3. Realistic fiction • Realistic Fiction is made up of stories that could really happen. Contemporary realistic fiction is set in modern times. • EX. Because of Winn Dixie, Crash, Owl Moon, Shiloh, Summer of Swans and Babysitter Club Series

  4. FOLKLORE • Folklores include stories, myths, and fables that people told one another over the years. Later the stories get written down. • EX. Aesop's Fables, Beauty and the Beast, The Bunyans, Cinderella, John Henry, The Talking Eggs and The Tortoise and The Hare

  5. Fantasy • Fantasy includes fiction that has elements that are not real • Sometimes this includes talking animals or characters with magical powers • There's usually a conflict between good and evil

  6. Poetry • Often uses rhymes • In a manner that is felt by its user and audience to differ from ordinary prose

  7. Autobiography • Form of a nonfiction (true) • Story of a real persons life • Auto means self • Bios means life • Graph means to write • Written by the person the story is about • Author does not need to research • Author shares how he/she feels and what he/she thinks
