NACSIS-CAT/ILL services Representative bibliographic utility of Japan • NACSIS-CAT • (Cataloging system) : • NACSIS-ILL • (ILL system ) : • Started in Dec. 1984 • Comprise union catalog database by shared cataloging of over 1,000 member libraries • 70 mil. holdings of books • Started in Apr. 1992 • Support Inter-library loan among the member libraries • International linkage with U.S.(OCLC) , Korea (KERIS) • 1 mil. transactions per yr.

Preparation for RECON project • Unicode based system introduced in Jan. 2000. • Multi script / language support with particular rules • Chinese (Jan. 2000 - ) • Korean (Sep. 2002 - ) • Japanese / Chinese Early books (Jul. 2003 - ) • Arabic scripts (Jul. 2003 - ) • MARC support (for Korean materials) • Using KORMARC for copy cataloging (Jun. 2002 - )
