  1. 1978 Fifa World Cup By: Wadha Al Nabti 7D

  2. Introduction • I have chosen to talk about the 1974 FIFA World Cup. I picked the 1974 FIFA World Cup because I really adored their mascot. Who was a classic gaucho, which is a term that is used to describe South American citizens. He was a boy wearing a blue and white striped Argentinean shirt. With his kind of a slanting cow boy hat with the words Argentina ’78. With an addition of a handkerchief on his neck and a whip on his right hand. It was hosted by Argentina and lasted only 25 day (June 1-25).

  3. Who were the finalists, who won, include the score. • The finalists were the Netherlands and the hosts themselves Argentina. It was held on 15th of June. Argentina won 3 to 1 against Netherlands. Here is a link to the goals that were scored in this match http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmXdIyRwAfU. It was an intense match for sure. That’s because last year Netherlands were also Runner-ups and they wanted to prove themselves as winners. They were also Runner-ups in the 2010 Fifa World Cup which was sorrowful.

  4. What was the scoring sequence and who scored • The first goal was scored by Mario Kempes (Argentina) 38’. The second goal tied the score board. It was by Dick Nanninga (Netherlands) 82’. It was followed by two goals from Argentina by again Mario Kempes 105’ and Daniel Bertoni 115’. The Score board was 3 to 1 and unfortunately the Netherlands lost.

  5. Choose 1 of the goals and describe using Football terminology the sequence of play leading up to the goal. • I chose the second goal by Mario because he was very spacious and kept good pace that even two of the defenders only managed to catch up when he kicked the ball and it passed the goalie. He was quite fidgety and most likely very scared on his second try to score it. That's because he hit the ball right into the defenders and luckily he managed to score. He didn’t keep good control of the ball after it went past the goalie.

  6. What could the defense have done to more effectively try and stop the goal being scored? • They could have had a faster pace. They should have gotten up from the ground faster. That’s cause they kept on falling for some reason. They should have kept eye on different players not all of them on one player. Most of them dive at the player which makes it easier for them to pass the defender and soon enough turns into another goal. So I think they could have kept an open eye

  7. Using the same scoring sequence what individual skills have been used by the attacking team? • Most of them kept in control of the ball. They always gave their peers options to pass. I think that they could have been a little more cautious especially when getting nearer to the goal. They had quick pace which is a good thing. Last but not least

  8. Was there any movement ‘off the ball’ by other attackers to draw defenders away from the goal scorer? If yes what happened and what was the effect of this? • I do not understand this question sorry.
