  1. Paul Jenkins (1923-2012) was an American artist known for his significant contributions to abstract expressionism.  Born in Missouri and educated at the Art Students League in New York, Jenkins honed his skills under such influential artists as Yasuo Kuniyoshi and Morris Kantor.  This formative training provided a foundation for his artistic development and allowed him to explore the expressive potential of color and form.

  2. During his time in New York, he met painting luminaries including Mark Rothko, Lee Krasner, and Jackson Pollock.  Throughout his career, Jenkins exhibited his works extensively, gaining recognition both in the United States and abroad.  His paintings were showcased in prominent galleries and museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tate Gallery in London, and the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo.  Jenkins's exhibitions served as platforms for his explorations of the emotive power of paint and its ability to evoke profound emotional responses in viewers. Jenkins's importance lies in his distinctive approach to abstract expressionism.  With a focus on the interplay of color, texture, and gesture, he created watercolors and paintings that invite deep looking and contemplation.  The paintings of Paul Jenkins, characterized by fluidity and luminosity, evoke a sense of meditative introspection, prompting viewers to engage with the transcendent qualities of the artistic experience.
