Overview of Men’s Soccer ProgramLast season – This season • 3 level program • 11-10-1 varsity record • 3rd place in DVAL • 1st round exit of NCS Playoffs 3-1 loss to St. Mary’s • Currently have 51 registrants • 3 teams Var/JV/Frosh • Expect 80% >3.0gpa • Expect 100% >2.5gpa • Frosh/JV train together and compete • Varsity compete for DVAL and NCS hardware

  8. Tryout Expectations • Coaching staff evaluates student athlete soccer players on 5 subjects. • 1. Technical • Comfort with ball, surfaces of foot, 2 footed player, striking ball, touch, etc,. • 2. Tactical • Decision making, reading the game, spacial awareness, visual cues, etc,. • 3. Physical • Speed, strength, quickness, acceleration, jumping, endurance, balance,etc,. • 4. Mental • Focus, listening (receive instruction-coachable), compete, teamwork, etc,. • 5. *Nutrition • Balanced diet, ownership of body, healthy decisions, etc,.

Tryouts – Helpful hints… • Play – Being on a club or recreation team will always been an advantage in high school soccer • Fitness – we expect players to be in form and fit on day one of tryouts • Teammate – being an exceptional teammate is being sought out by coaching staff • Communicate! Tryouts are not a time to be shy or quiet – express yourself on the field – verbal and non verbal (body language) are important • Commitment to compete! • Honor the game! • Be prepared!Be prompt • Help out – don’t hide when coaches ask for help – • On and off campus conduct – tardiness, unexcused absences, referrals, suspensions, arrests and any conduct not in the best interest of Northgate High School, Northate Athletics and our soccer program will be factored into roster selections. • Be eligible! 2.0 minimum following 1st quarter grading • Be yourself – have fun and if you’re prepared, good things will happen.

Club/Rec Season & High School Soccer • Tryouts: Northgate soccer expects ALL student athletes to participate in the entire tryout process of 3 days minimum. • Club players must inform NG Coaching staff of training dates, times and remaining schedule (see handout). • NG soccer will honor club commitments (training, matches and tournaments to end of November). • CIF/NCS Rule 600 Outside Competition • Club/Rec players CAN NOT participate in HS matches AND play on club team at same time. • Tryouts and training with HS is ok/acceptable – no scrimmages or matches. • NG scheduling factors in this predicament, thus no matches in November.

Overview of Men’s SoccerTraining / Match Information • Freshman Team Training • Tuesday thru Friday • 3:30pm to 5:30pm • Castle Rock / Turf when available • JV Team Training • Monday thru Friday • 3:30pm to 5:30pm • Turf • Varsity Training • Monday thru Thursday • 5:30pm to 7:30pm • Friday • 3:30pm to 4:30 pm approx • Saturday 10:00am to noon • Training time(s) subject to change due to several factors. • Check web site for training times • Thanksgiving/Winter break training • Freshman Match Schedule • TBD - Online at www.northgatebroncos.org • Selected players will be called up to JV matches • 15 matches scheduled approximately • 1 tournament – pending – 11/28, 11/29 • *top 15 frosh • Mostly Saturday matches • JV Match Schedule • TBD - Online at www.northgatebroncos.org • 1 tournament – Dublin – Dec. • Selected players will be called up to Varsity trainings and matches • DVAL schedule, plus non-league • Varsity Match Schedule • Online at www.northgatebroncos.org • Pacific Grove Trip • 21 matches scheduled
