  1. Church Planting

  2. To boldly go where no man has gone before (Romans 15:18-21 NIV) I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done-- {19} by the power of signs and miracles, through the power of the Spirit. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ. {20} It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else's foundation. {21} Rather, as it is written: "Those who were not told about him will see, and those who have not heard will understand."

  3. Canadian Stats Those Canadians 15 years and older reporting no religious affiliation: • 4% in 1971 • 7% in 1981 • 12% in 1991 • 16% in 2001 • 19% in 2004. • 23.9 in 2011 Statistics Canada's General Social Survey (GSS) Wikipedia religions in Canada

  4. Vancouver • 35% of Metro Vancouver no religion • Average age 33 years • "This is the West Coast. It's much less traditional in many ways. There are people who come here from Eastern Canada who are looking for a different lifestyle. They're looking for a way to be spiritual without the trappings of authoritarian religion.” Langara College religion instructor Larry Devries

  5. (1 Corinthians 1:17-21 NIV) For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel--not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. {18} For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. {19} For it is written: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate." {20} Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? {21} For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

  18. 1. Individual or individuals enter a community and begins to evangelize, finds like-minded people, and as they begin to meet together a congregation is formed. 2. A group of people in an established church begin to see things differently than the main body. As they meet together, they have a sense to leave and start a church with their new found emphasis as a focal point. 3. A church body purposes to establish (or plant) another congregation and therefore commission people, resources and time to the forming of another congregation. 4. A denomination as whole commissions a church planting committee which then dedicates resources, finds the right people, and starts another church. This would be similar to a franchise operation in the business community.

  19. Here is an idea • Put out a call for church planters and identify the called out ones • We encourage a mother church or a group of church to unite to plant a church • FCA provides support in prayer, resources, and guidance as predetermined.
