    2. The Questions What do owls eat? How do owls catch their food? How do owls eat their food? Owls only seem to come out at night, but what are they doing? Owls must have extraordinary vision and amazing hearing to track their prey.

How do owls catch their food? Write all of your answers on the graphic organizer below, please.

    4. The Exploration Please follow these directions: Cut along the dotted lines of this graphic organizer. Using the websites provided, answer the questions on the organizer. When you finish researching the questions, glue the three pieces of the owl together to complete the puzzle.

    6. The Assessment Activity Now its time to go on our Treasure Hunt! So far, you have answered these questions: What do owls eat? How do owls eat their food? How do owls catch their food? Now we are going to take all of the information that we have gathered and studied and put it to good use. Each of you will get three things: Rubber gloves Tweezers Owl Pellet First make sure to put on your gloves. Next, put down a paper towel so you don’t make a mess. Then, as you dissect the owl pellet, try to decide what the owl had eaten, how he caught it, and how he ate it! Make sure to record all of your thoughts and observations in your journal. Be sure to include why you think that this owl ate what it did, what it was that the owl ate and how he managed to swallow all of the bones. You will be graded on your drawings of the things that you found, your broad range of information, your reflections, and of course your spelling and grammar. HAVE FUN!!! When you are finished go to this website to try to figure out which owl belongs to the pellet you dissected.
