  1. What did Adam and Eve do? God told Adam and Eve not to eat from the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. They disobeyed and Sin entered the world. This set a pattern for Humanity. (Original sin) Genesis Creation -6 days -God created everything by word/thought -Humans given responsibility to look after everything, name everything, multiply - “It was good” What were the punishments? - Death (they were away from the Tree of Life) - Pain and Disease - Separation from God - Hard work Forgiveness Christians stress the power of forgiveness. No matter what you have done if you ask for forgiveness you can get it, if you really mean it! Christians believe that God’s forgiveness is absolute and free. Look at the story of The Prodigal Son. The Human Condition What were the results for Humans? -Separating God and humanity. Sin keeps God and Humans apart -Life became full of hardships -Living in a world of sin harms people. Death separates people from God -Sin harms others, innocent people Death and suffering entered the world One major condition is freewill, God lets people choose. Bad choices lead to bad consequences, to get back to God; people have to do what God wants. Christian believes Jesus put Adam’s decision right and give people chance to get back to God.

  2. Revision Questions What would a Christian understand by ‘ex nihilo’? What responsibilities does a Christian have to the world if God made it? Why is it important for Christians that humans have free will? In the creation story, what is meant by ‘in the image of God’? According to Christians, how did sin come into the world and what are its effects?
