  5. Chipmunks • 1. Chipmunks are part of the squirrel family. • . They are smaller, with light and dark stripes along their cheeks and backs. • . Wild chipmunks live for two to five years, • . Chipmunks gather nuts in the fall and hide them in their 2-room homes underground. • . Their cheeks can stretch to 3 times the size of their heads. • . By winter they have gathered about 6000 nuts to eat while they hibernate.
