  1. A warning to all parents… And all that generation also were gathered to their fathers; and there arose another generation after them, who did not know the LORD or the work which he had done for Israel. (Judges 2:10 RSV)

  2. One Thing Is Needful… Now as they went on their way, he entered a village; and a woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving; and she went to him and said, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me." But the Lord answered her, "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things; one thing is needful. Mary has chosen the good portion, which shall not be taken away from her." (Luke 10:38-42 RSV)

  3. Knowing Jesus Is The only thing needful… But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as refuse, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, based on law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith; (Philippians 3:7-9 RSV)

  4. Satan Wants to distract our children… Do not love the world or the things in the world. If any one loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. (1 John 2:15 RSV) And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. (Luke 8:14 RSV)

  5. Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6 RSV) How are you training?

  6. Introducing Jesus To Our Children… • and you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. And these words which I command you this day shall be upon your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. And you shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. (Deuteronomy 6:5-9 RSV)

  7. Teach Your children the scriptures… • I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you. (2 Timothy 1:5 RSV) • But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings which are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 3:14-15 RSV)

  8. Help your children Memorize scriptures… • I have laid up thy word in my heart, that I might not sin against thee. (Psalms 119:11 RSV) • The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip. (Psalms 37:31 RSV)

  9. Teach your children how to pray… • He was praying in a certain place, and when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples." (Luke 11:1 RSV)

  10. Spend time with other christians… • While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and his brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him. But he replied to the man who told him, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother, and sister, and mother." (Matthew 12:46-50 RSV)

  11. but one thing is needful: for Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her. (Luke 10:42 ASV) Prioritize these things!
