Learning Objectives • Students will recognize three vocabulary words based on ecosystems • Students will be able to define three vocabulary words based on ecosystems • Students will complete the quiz to ensure understanding of the vocabulary words • Students will be able to give one example of each of the definitions As a student “I CAN!”

  3. Ecosystem • A community of living organisms (plants and animals) sharing an environment with non- living elements • Examples: • Pond • Forest • Tropical rainforest • Grassland

  4. Habitat • The natural environment of an organism • Examples: • Owls and foxes living in a woodland • Sharks living in the ocean • A rattlesnake living in the desert • A polar bear living in the tundra

  5. Community • Two or more populations of different species occupying the same geographical area • Interacting populations • Example: • This fish living in the coral reef
