  4. HUAC • Investigated allegations of communist activity in the early years of the Cold War.

  5. McCarthyism • Sen. Joseph McCarthy • Accused people of being communist without providing evidence

  6. Spy Cases • Alger Hiss: accused of passing documents to the USSR. Guilty of perjury. • Rosenbergs: accused of passing atomic bomb secrets to USSR. Guilty of espionage.
