  3. Introductions • BS from UMaine in Child Development and Family Services • 10+ years Social Worker • 8+ Years in Early Childhood Education • Masters in Education

  4. YOUR TURN! • Name • Title or position • Something about yourself • Complete Roster and email list • Set up manila folders

  5. Manuals! • Have your ID ready • Put it in your 3 ring binder • Bring it to EACH class (with pens and highlighters as well) • This is a good time for a quick break if you need one! But come right back!

  6. TECE Content and Purpose • Introduction to core knowledge and skills required to work with children in early care and education • Built upon established standards in DE (ELFs, Child Care licensing) • You will be learning how to nurture the growth and development of young children and prepare them for success!

  8. Scoring for TECE • Handout #6 Scoring and Rubrics • Must get a C- or better to get certificate • Complete 60 hours (miss no more than 9 hours to earn more points) • Makeups for hours? Possibly....we’ll talk. • NO makeups for quizzes • Program visits and comparison • Assignments and readings

  9. CDA and Apprenticeship • TECE 1 counts as 60 hours toward the 120 required for CDA • Counts toward Apprenticeship criteria • Family & Workplace Connection for career advisement

  11. Homework • Review your manual – become familiar with format, readings, portfolio assignments, and handouts • Get your manual safe in a binder • Put in your tabs • Write down any questions for next class! • See you next week!
