  4. Grading Policy We are focused on student achievement and learning and will measure progress based on Arizona state standards. We will use a percentage based grading system.

  5. Agendas • The purpose of the agenda is to help students stay organized with assignments & as a communication tool between school & home. • Agendas must be brought to every class, everyday. • Teachers will stamp in every class. If you see a circled “P” or “H”, it means that your child didn’t complete their practice (homework). • If your child’s agenda is damaged or lost, you are responsible for replacing it. We ask that you sign the agenda once a week.

  8. Vocabulary • Greek & Latin Stems – on a 3 week cycle. • After first cycle, students will be responsible for 2 lists. • Example Lists 2 & 3, Lists 3 & 4, Lists 4 & 5 • Tier 2 Vocabulary - 7 words per list – from future reading or words with word stems • Academic Vocabulary

  15. Art Room Donations Below is a list of donations that would be very welcomed. It’s back to school time and there are a lot of sales going on now with school supplies that the art room could use. New Items- Reams of copy paper, Kleenex, hand sanitizer, markers, crayons, bags of cotton balls, boxes of Q-tips, lots of glue sticks, black sharpies, dry eraser markers, and baby wipes Gently Used/ Recycled items (cleaned/washed)- Magazines, Fabric, wallpaper samples, sour cream/ yogurt containers with lids, cookie cutters, plastic silverware, old t-shirts (for paint shirts) , artificial flowers, yarn, ribbon, buttons, egg cartons, beads, bags of dried bean and anything else you think your child could get creative with. BAND – Mr. Brewer District, State and National Band and Music Standards will be taught Students will participate in at least 3 concerts (calendar will be out in about 2 weeks) 6th graders may have additional performance opportunities, including a band competition, school assemblies and fundraisers Both 5th and 6th grade bands meet for 45 minutes a day, 4 days a week We will utilize “Band Karate” to help students learn the necessary concepts to play well 
