  2. Outline • New SAME/EAS Event Code Implementation • NWR audio broadcast • NWS text product • All Hazards Dissemination Activities • Product Formats

All Hazards Messages • NWR SAME and EAS changes • June 30, 2004, NWS will begin implementing new codes • SCN 04-20 issued 3/3/04 • Text product changes • September 8, 2004, add AWIPS ID (NNNXXX) to all “civil emergency” WOUSii (and OCONUS equivalent) products • "NNNs" to match the new SAME/EAS event codes • SCN 04-39 issued 6/21/04

NWS and theNational Public Warning Dynamic • Streamline “civil emergency” message collection & processing with HazCollect system initiative • Reduce message errors and time delay caused by current manual processing methods • Development begins this summer • Deployment in late 2005 • Partnerships • Interagency All Hazards Working Group • Partnership for Public Warning (PPW) • Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) • NWR Special Interest Group (SIG) • CEA-2009 Public Alert receiver standards finalized December 2003 • Media Security and Reliability Council (MSRC) • Protocol standards development for exchange and dissemination of hazard warnings and other critical messages (CAP and OASIS)

  5. Product Formats • Progress made during 2004 • Quality Control associated with VTEC implementation • Short-duration product segmentation • SVS, MWS, FFS, CFW • SCN pending for a Autumn 2004 implementation
