  3. Accreditation in NC • Legislatively Mandated Local Accreditation Program--40 of 85 locals accredited http://nciph.sph.unc.edu/accred/index.htm • State conducted pilot accreditation self assessment and site visit by external site visitors http://www.ncpublichealth.com/phPerfImp/phpi.htm

Performance Improvement in NC MLC 2 Focus • Survey of local health departments: PI practices and training needs • Follow up interviews with locals conducting PI • Conducted video and regional trainings • 173 participants for video conference + DVD dissemination • 110 participants at regional trainings • Proposal to continue training and TA efforts to NC foundation

  5. Preparing Locals for National Accreditation • Representatives on PHAB committees • Standards Vetting—involve locals in PHAB • Standards Testing—MLC 3 project • Seek Equivalency Application

  6. Preparing State for National Accreditation • State Accreditation Pilot Process • PI activities based on pilot results • 2 activities MLC 3 supported • Research (ES 10) • Budget processes • Standards Vetting—MLC 3 project

Mini-Collaborative 1 Target — Decrease Vaccine Preventable Disease • Working in partnership with DPH/WCH • 8 locals, applied through RFP • Working on 11 high leverage changes to implement Open Access/Office Efficiency principles (and improve outcomes) • Develop NC DPH competencies for statewide implementation

  8. Mini-Collaborative 2 Target — Assure Competent Workforce • Working with regional incubator • State focus as well • Will start in 2nd year of project

  9. What’s Cool about NC • Exciting—Sustainability Plan through regional consultants • Toolkit on PI for statewide use • Training on toolkit and through mini-collaboratives • Hopes/goals • Make PI part of culture at state and local level • Contribute to national process • Learn from other states
