  2. Code Of Conduct Article I I am an American,fighting in the forces which guardmy country and our way of life.I am prepared to givemy life in their defense. Viewgraph 2

  3. Code of Conduct Article II I will never surrenderof my own free will. If in command,I will never surrender the membersof my command while they stillhave the means to resist. Viewgraph 3

  4. Code of Conduct Article III If I am captured,I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effortto escape and aid others to escape.I will accept neither parolenor special favors from the enemy. Viewgraph 4

  5. Code of Conduct Article IV If I become a prisoner of war,I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners.I will give no information or take part inany action which might be harmfulto my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me and will back them up in every way. Viewgraph 5

  6. Code of Conduct Article V When questioned,should I become a prisoner of war,I am required to give name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my countryand its allies or harmful to their cause. Viewgraph 6

  7. Code of Conduct Article VI I will never forgetthat I am an American, fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions,and dedicated to the principleswhich make my country free.I will trust in my Godand in the United States of America. Viewgraph 7

  12. DOD Escape Guidance Hostile Government • Fall under their civil law. • Do not have protection under GPW. • Remember, jailbreak is a crime. • Attempt escape only after careful consideration. Viewgraph 12

  13. DOD Escape Guidance Terrorist Group • Anticipate early release. • Especially consider escape if terrorist group is known to assassinate prisoners. Viewgraph 13

DOD Authorized Communication Hostile Government • Give name, rank, SSN, DOB. • Can provide innocent circumstancesleading to capture. • May discuss health, welfare, and condition of fellow detainees. • Remember, there is no reason to sign anything. • Ask to see allied/neutral government embassy representatives. • Continually ask to be released or go home.
