  1. Welcome to EducationCity!

  2. What is EducationCity? • EducationCity is an online teaching and learning resource that is mapped to both the state standards and Common Core. • EducationCity provides lesson starters, interactive reinforcement activities, tests, individualized remediation, and reporting for progress monitoring.

  3. Key benefits for teachers • The entire resource is web-based so that you and your students can access EducationCity from anywhere that you have internet. • Scores are saved and organized automatically to allow quick and accurate evaluation of student performance. • Immediate differentiation provides activities to address students’ demonstrated needs. • All EducationCity content incorporates classroom technology like computers and interactive whiteboards.

  4. Where to start? • Go to us.educationcity.com. • Click LOGIN on the toolbar at the top. • Enter your school’s username and password.

  5. EducationCity Home Page This is the starting page where teachers and students can begin to access all of the features in EducationCity. Log in with your username and password at the top.

  6. Subject Page Students and teachers can access all subjects and instructional features from this subject page.

  7. Topic Tools • Topic Tools are designed for interactive whiteboards, projectors, or computers. • They are aligned to state standards and Common Core • Used to introduce new concepts as whole-class or individualized instruction. • Interactivity and customizability engages students during the lesson.

  8. Topic Tools • Data can be automatically generated, or customized with your own information. • Students can also use individually for independent practice.

  9. Activities • Activities provide self-paced reinforcement of what the teacher has taught. • Ideal for individual computer time in the classroom, computer lab, or from home. • They are aligned with the standards, which can be accessed through the “i”.

  10. Activities • Topic Filter allows teachers to narrow down activities by a specific topic. • After selecting a topic, the teacher can access any aligned activities available in the Standards Map.

Activities If you choose an activity from the Activity Select screen instead of Topic Filter, you will see your options in the Activity Box. • Activity can be used in whiteboard mode for whole-class instruction. • Learn Area and Teacher Zone provide lessons and supplemental material. • Extension Resources list related activities.

Activities Activities are bright, colorful, and engaging, and provide great independent practice for your students. • “Whiteboard play mode” allows for guided instruction by teacher and pauses for reinforcement after each question. • Teachers and students can access the Teacher Zone from the Activity home page for supplemental material. • Learn screen contains a quick lesson your students can review before they begin the activity.

  13. Activities • EducationCity activities provide immediate feedback to your students so that they are always learning. • Incorrect answers provide explanations to guide students to the right answer. • Correct answers include reinforcement to strengthen skills.

  14. Teacher Zone The Teacher Zone contains supplemental material for teachers to use when teaching and reinforcing their lessons. This area can be found by clicking on the Green Apple in a Standards Map. • Learn screen gives the student a summary of the topic being covered. • Worksheet can be printed or used on an interactive whiteboard. • There are quick links to related Topic Tools and the Activity. • Teacher Notes provide instructional ideas.

Tests • Tests are available for Math 3rd-5th Grade and Science 4th-5th Grade, and can be used as a pretest or a cumulative assessment. • For Science, you can choose topic tests in addition to full test mode. • Tests help teachers to evaluate their students’ progress and provide differentiation through the Revision Pathway.

  16. Tests • Timer ensures that students work steadily through the test. • Questions are read aloud and appear on screen, and can be repeated. • Questions will change color once they are answered, and students can skip questions and return to them later before finishing the test.

  17. myRevision Once students complete a test, EducationCity automatically assigns them a Revision Pathway containing activities chosen to target their demonstrated needs. • Activities that target students’ needs are automatically assigned. • Once a student successfully completes an activity, they will be directed to the next activity. • MyRevision can also be created in a myCity.

  18. PlayLive PlayLive is an interactive arena where students compete in real time with other students in their class, in the school, or nationwide. They answer as many questions as possible in 60 seconds using either their Math or Language Arts skills.

  19. Teacher Features • Success Tracker provides reports on student performance. • Standards Map displays how EducationCity content aligns with standards. • MyCity lets teachers create individualized student profiles.

  20. SuccessTracker There are multiple types of reports that will break down your data by date, type of activity, or by class. Reports can also be downloaded or emailed.

  21. SuccessTracker • Class Report displays an overview of your students, broken down by subject, grade level, and topic. • Select a student to see an individualized summary of their performance.

  22. SuccessTracker • View different attempts on activities from the Results page. • See every question answered on the Details page, which also allows you to add the activity to a myCity.

  23. Standards Map • The Standards Map allows the teacher to review the standard that that correlates to the activity. • Teachers can also access the “Teacher Zone” by clicking on the green apple.

  24. myCity • Create folders to organize your myCitys by groups or classes. • MyCitys can be customized with fun backgrounds as well as with activities and tests. • Teachers can select which activities appear so that students focus on areas of greatest need. • Preferences are adjustable to ensure that each student can focus on learning and having fun.

  25. Preferences Preferences are adjustable for the entire school, or by subject and grade level. This feature is only accessible by the EducationCity administrator.

Preferences Some especially helpful preferences that can be changed are… • Time limits can be altered or removed to provide a slower pace. • Sounds, grade levels, and the Quit and Restart buttons can be deactivated to remove distractions. • Child login before activity and auto save score can be activated to ensure all work is saved automatically upon completion of activity.
