  2. Intro about fats • Fats consist of a wide group of compound that are generally soluble in organic solvents and largely insoluble in water. • Example of edible animal fat is lard (pig fat) fish oil, butter or ghee • Example of edible plant fat is peanut , soya bean , sunflower , sesame , cocunut.

  3. Types of fats in food • Unsaturated fat • Monounsaturated fat • Polyunsaturated fat • Trans fat • Cis fat

  4. Unsaturated fat • An unsaturated fat is a fat or fatty acids in which there are one or more double bonds in the fatty acid chain. A fat molecule is monounsaturated if it contain one or more double bond, an polyunsaturated fat if it contains more than one double bond

  5. Monounsaturated Fats • Monounsaturated fats or MUFA (MonoUnsaturated Fatty Acid) are fatty acids that have a single double bond in the fatty acid chain

  6. Polyunsaturated Fats • Polyunsaturated fat, or polyunsaturated fatty acid, are fatty acids in which more than one double bond exists within the representative molecule. • Two or more points on its structure capable of supporting hydrogenatoms not currently part of the structure.

  7. Trans Fats • Trans fat is the common name for unsaturated fat with trans-isomerfatty acid(s). Trans fats may be monounsaturated or polyunsaturated but never saturated.

  8. Cis Fats • An unsaturated fat is a fat or fatty acid in which there are one or more double bonds in the fatty acid chain. A fat molecule is monounsaturated if it contains one double bond, and polyunsaturated if it contains more than one double bond. Where double bonds are formed, hydrogenatoms are eliminated.

  9. Reflections • Do not eat food that is too excess on fats.. Eat food that is healthy fats… Exercise regularly. Live healthy and Stay healthy. Lead a healthy lifestyle.. Yeah!!!
