Goals for the Year In order to develop mathematically proficient students, we will: • Deepen our understanding of the practice and content standards in the MCF 2011; • Articulate how BPS curricular resources support implementation of the standards; and • Support communication among district staff, school leaders, and classroom teachers.

  4. Objectives • Examine how the Standards for Mathematical Practice name behaviors of proficient problem solvers. • Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them. • Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others • Attend to precision • Develop a plan for Professional Development at your school.

Focus questions for video • How did each student initially make sense of the problem? • What evidence of making sense of the mathematics did you see in this video clip? • What evidence of perseverance did you see in this video clip? • Explain the different representations each student used and how each representation illuminates and obscures the mathematics.
