  1. dag 3 idee ontwik - keling

  2. goals today • Develop “criteria” to help you evaluate & select your ideas • Some tools from Tassouls book to help you do this • Give you some tips about turning ideas into a concept • Feedbackgesprek

  3. hoofdst. 6 maandag hoofdst. 4 dinsdag hoofdst. 5 woensdag feedback! donderdag

  4. divergeren 100 ideeën int. criteria 3-5 veelbelovende ideeën feedbackgesprek exp. criteria conver. 1 idee

  5. again creativity about something you define (deels) criteria ! om te convergeren moet je minstens zo creatief zijn als om te divergeren !

  6. One view of “product” development

  7. Idea to concept (ideal)

  8. Intuitive selection (15 minutes) • Try to choose 20 ideas or clusters of ideas that are intuitively attractive • You may rely on “gut-feel” • You may want to set some simple criteria such as: • Interesting • Innovative or new • Inspiring or challenging • Elegant or simple

  9. Inventorising ideas (15 minutes) • For the +/- 20 ideas/clusters you have try the following technique • PMI (from Edward de Bono) • Plus – what are the plus points of each idea/cluster? • Minus – what aspects of each idea/cluster might need to be improved • Interesting – what is interesting about each idea/cluster • Do the whole PMI idea/cluster and then move on to the next • Write them on a new Post-it

  10. Elaborating ideas (15 minutes) • For the +/- 20 ideas/clusters you now have work as a team to elaborate each idea so that you all agree what it involves (make it more explicit

  11. Developing criteria (15 minutes) • Work as a team to develop explicit (not intuitive) criteria to evaluate your ideas • Specifications • What criteria does the briefing give you (time, cost, technology, brand values, etc., etc.) that could allow you to evaluate your ideas? • Requirements • What requirements other than those in the briefing would lead you to a yes/no decision about an idea (innovation, cultural fit, feasibility) • Wishes • What do you as a team want to achieve (innovation, learning, experience, graduation project)? • Write these down to make them your “Spec list”

  12. Selection based on explicit criteria • Alternative 1: Use your “spec list” to evaluate each idea • If it fails but your gut instinct says this is wrong, try to elaborate the idea further • Alternative 2: C-Box • Try the C-Box and then do alternative 1

  13. C-Box Feasibility Easy Difficult Not very Innovation Very
