  2. Kings of the Old Testament- Solomon • Review from last week • God sees into the heart of every person. • We need to put our trust in God. • Rulers are the servants of God and for conscience sake we obey the laws of the land.

  3. Kings of the Old Testament- Solomon • We will study three main points this Sunday. • Solomon’s request of God • Solomon’s rule over Israel • How Solomon lost his faith through sin and disobedience

  4. Kings of the Old Testament- Solomon • Vocabulary • Wisdom and Knowledge • Do they mean the same thing? • Wisdom – Having or showing good judgment. Often based on experience. • Knowledge – Information, the things that someone knows, awareness. • Can a person have knowledge but be unwise?

  10. Kings of the Old Testament- Solomon • God’s answer to Solomon’s request • “ Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that here was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.” 1 Kings 3:12

Solomon’s rule over Israel • The name Solomon means peace or prosperity. • He was the second son of David and Bethsheba and the tenth of David’s 17-19 sons. • He ruled for 40 years • He was internationally known as wise and just. • Although David’s son Adonijah was the expected heir, Nathan and Bethsheba reminded David of his earlier promise to grant the kingship to Solomon. 1 Kings 1:11-40

It was separated from the Holy Place by a curtain (2 Chronicles 3:8-14). • B.The Ark Of The Covenant.
