  2. x + = - - Problem You decide to do a tandem parachute jump from an airplane dropped from an altitude of 1.75 miles. The parachute allows you to descend at an average rate of 15 feet per second. At this rate, how long will it take for you to reach the ground?

  3. x + = - - First Step • First I had to find out how many feet are in a mile. • There are 5,280 feet in a mile.

  4. x + = - - Second Step • Now that I know that there are 5,280 I need to find how many feet there are in the .75 or ¾ so I divided 5,280 by 4 and got 1,320 and multiplied it by 3 and got 3,240 1 ,320 4 5,280 1 1 ,320 ● 3 -4 1 2 -1 2 3,960 08 - 08 0

  6. x + = - - Fourth Step • Next I tried to divide 616 by 60 because there are 60 seconds in a minute but I got 10.266 so 616 isn’t divisible by 60 I tried 610 and got 10.166 610 isn’t divisible by 60 then I tried dividing 600 and got 10 It’s going to take 10 minutes and there are 16 second left so you will get to the ground in 10 minutes and 16 seconds
