  2. Crucible • “…the process that allows an individual to undergo testing and to emerge, not just stronger, but equipped with the tools he or she needs both to lead and to learn. It is a model that explains how individuals make meaning out of often difficult events…” (Bennis 2007, p. 4)

  3. Synopsis • Valley-girl, sororitypresidentElle Woods, after having her hopes of marrying her long-time boyfriend crushed, sets out to win his heart backby attending law school at Harvard. As she journeys through the trials of law school, she soon discovers her desire to serve justice above wanting to win a man over.

  4. Crucible moment #1- elle’s break-up • A flawed notion of what the crucible is/does though serves the purpose • After Elle grieves, she learns from the experience (however wrong it may be) • Elle is inspired towin Warner overby studying/applying to Harvard Law • ADD MOVIE CLIP HERE

  6. Crucible moment #3- law firm internship • After learning that Warner doesn’t respect her, Elle strives to attain a position as a professor’s law firm • Rather than be heartbroken and not succeed, Elle bunkers down, studies at any given point in order to not let anyone think less of her based • MOVIE CLIP

  7. Crucible moment #4- defending brooke • Once in her new job, Elle is assigned to an alleged murder trial of a former sorority member • Elle uses uncanny methods to find out information and even more uncharacteristic means to honor and defend her client, even up to the trial itself • Though in a difficult position, Elle does not buckle in her efforts or ethics to save Brooke from prison • RANDOM CLIPS FROM THIS LONG SEGMENT

  8. Results of the crucible moments • Elle thwarts the framing of Brooke, of her law professor’s sexual advancing, and graduates with honors from Harvard Law • Elle got to the position she ended up in not because of money, but because of her drive and desire to not let anything deter her from being who she wanted to be • Elle pushed through with all the odds stacked against her and because of her drive, became the most successful overall
