  5. IMMEDIATE NEEDS: MASS CARE NEEDS • PRE-FABRICATED HOUSES FOR THE HOMELESS WHO ARE PRESENTLY SLEEPING OUTSIDE IN NEAR-FREEZING • FOOD, WATER, MEDICINE, ETC FOR TENS OF THOUSANDS WHO WERE DISPLACED

  6. TENS OF THOUSANDS SLEEPING OUTSIDE IN NEAR-FREEZING TEMPERATURES

  7. TENS OF THOUSANDS DISPLACED FROM HOMES

  8. AID AGENCIES ESTABLISH TENT CITIES TO MEET NEEDS OF DISPLACED

  9. IMMEDIATE NEEDS: FINISH FINAL PHASE OF S AND R • SUPPLEMENTAL ASSISTANCE FOR SEARCH AND RESCUE, EVEN THOUGH THE “GOLDEN PERIOD” FOR LIVE RESCUES IS CLOSING.

  10. OCT 25: SEARCH AND RESCUE RESOURCES ON THE GROUND • 2,400 RESCUE WORKERS (Exhausted from working day and night), • 680 MEDICS, • 12 TRAINED DOGS, • 108 AMBULANCES (INCLUDING 7 AIR AMBULANCES)

  11. SEARCH AND RESCUE: AN ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT OPERATION

  12. OCTOBER 25: MORE THAN 200 AFTERSHOCKS (up to M6.0) HINDERED S AND R, AND KEPT PEOPLE SLEEPING OUTSIDE THEIR HOMES

  13. VAN: INITIAL SEARCH FOR SURVIVORS

  14. VAN: INITIAL SEARCH FOR SURVIVORS

  15. ERCIS: SEARCH FOR SURVIVORS INTENSIFIES

  16. VAN: FRANTIC SEARCH FOR SURVIVORS

  17. INTENSIVE SEARCH AND RESCUE AS TIME RUNS OUT

  18. IMMEDIATE NEEDS: MEDICAL • SUPPLEMENTAL MEDICAL ASSIST-ANCE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF OVER1,300 WHO WERE INJURED AND THOSE PULLED FROM COLLAPSED BUILDINGS, AND TO PREVENT DISEASE ASSOCIATED WITH THE GROWING NUMBER OF DEAD BODIES (e.g., more than 100 stacked next to the hospital).

  19. THE INJURED HAVE IMMEDIATE MEDICAL NEEDS

  20. THE RESCUED HAVE IMMEDIATE MEDICAL NEEDS

  21. THE RESCUED HAVE IMMEDIATE MEDICAL NEEDS

  22. IMMEDIATE NEEDS: PORTABLE HOSPITALS • PORTABLE HOSPITALS TO EXTEND THE FUNCTIONS OF THE HOSPITAL THAT WAS BADLY DAMAGED AND LOST ITS MAIN FUNCTION IN THE EARTHQUAKE.

  23. IMMEDIATE NEEDS: DEBRIS REMOVAL AND RESTORATION • SUPPLEMENTAL ASSISTANCE FOR DEBRIS REMOVAL AND RESTORATION OF ESSENTIAL SERVICES (E.G., POWER, WATER, SEWAGE, AIRPORT, ROADS AND BRIDGES).

  24. ERCIS: MOUNTAIN OF RUBBLE TO BE REMOVED
