  2. For Parents • IDD is an interdisciplinary subject. Team teaching (Science + Sport) • 15 - 17 periods over 1 year. Requires students to work and communicate as a team between lessons. • Students develop many group skills and are assessed on their ability to work as a team to certain deadlines. Individual contributions are encouraged.

  3. Requirements for success • Understanding that an individual alone cannot perform all the work required and that everyone is good at something. • Close contact with colleagues (e-mail, group meetings) • Respect for commitments and deadlines

  4. Red indicates important deadlines for each class

  5. Phase 1- Research Questions • Brainstorming keywords connecting science and sport • From keywords to original research questions • Noting and organizing what is already known about your subject - 1° and 2° sources

  6. Phase 2 - Experiments • The group’s predictions - what will we find? • Planning the experiments (equipment, data tables) • Performing the experiments & recording measurements

  7. Phase 3 - Analysis • Comparing results with predictions • Finding hypotheses • Suggesting improvements and further research

  8. Presentation • A group folder containing: • pertinent hand-written notes with references + dates • images or diagrams (max printed = 2) • results tables (printing permitted) • a discussion of your results including graphs (max printed = 2) + • A powerpoint presentation • short notes in language ‘A’ spoken in language ‘B’

  9. Important deadlines • Submission of folder with pertinent hand-written facts, diagrams + references before ‘Toussaint’ vacation • Submission of folder containing the completed results table by mid-January • Submission of the completed folder with discussion and powerpoint before Easter.
