  3. Fall 2012 Applicants

  4. Fall 2012 Admission Numbers by College* All CSU eligible local students were offered admission to SJSU, though not necessarily to their preferred major. For details about Fall 2012 impaction results including Eligibility Index ranges for admission, please see http://info.sjsu.edu/static/impaction.html. Visit www.oir.sjsu.edu for the Office of Institutional Research.

  5. CSU Preparation • “a-g” Subject requirements (must be completed by the end of Spring 2013) • Test Scores (SAT/ACT) • Academic GPA (10th-12th) • Eligibility Index (2900-4300 SAT or 694-1021 ACT) Remember! All admission is provisional, until verification of final transcript.

  6. Fall 2013: Selection Impaction: SJSU receives a greater number of applications from eligible students than we have the space to admit. Therefore, meeting the minimum requirements may not be enough to gain admission to SJSU.

  7. Early Start Program • Some students must begin their remediation the summer before their fall enrollment at a CSU. • SJSU Admissions will begin communicating with students as early as October on their expected Early Start participation. • Applicants must monitor their MySJSU accounts for messages and posted deadlines associated with Early Start. • Communication with admitted applicants will be part of the Intent to Enroll (Next Steps) process. • ELM/EPT must be taken as early as possible and no later than April 27, 2013. • Students may complete Early Start at SJSU, other CSUs, or CCCs.

  8. Fall 2013 Dates & Deadlines Fall application period: October 1 – November 30 • All Frosh applicants must submit SAT/ACT scores and pay the application fee or submit fee waiver by December 21, 2012 • Application deadline for EOP will be December 15, 2012 • Notification of provisional admission will occur in February of 2013 • Priority deadline for FAFSA will be March 2, 2013 • Complete the intent to enroll “Next Steps” process by May 1st • Take ELM/EPT before April 27, 2013 • Complete required courses by the end of Spring 2013 term • Attend a mandatory Orientation session (dates vary) • Submit final transcripts by July 15, 2013 Office of Undergraduate Admissions San Jose State University One Washington Square San Jose, CA 95192-0016

  9. Fall 2013 Appeals • SJSU reviews each applicant's record thoroughly in the admission process and admission decisions are rarely reversed.  The admissions process is completely objective, based on each applicant's self-reported academic qualifications on the CSU Application for Admission and official transcripts and test scores received by published deadlines. • Appeals to admission decisions must be submitted within 15 days of the denial notification. All appeals will be reviewed and responded to within three weeks. • SJSU does not set aside space in our class for students who appeal admission decisions. Every denied application has been reviewed for maximum consideration. Therefore, for an appeal to have merit, it must bring to light new academic information (send official documentation of new information to eval@sjsu.edu). Grades received in the current academic year are not a basis for an appeal or the reversal of a decision. • SJSU does not consider appeals to missed deadlines, no matter how compelling the circumstances.

  10. Stay Connected! • For admission updates visit http://info.sjsu.edu • SJSU communicates almost entirely by messages and “TO DO” lists posted on the student’s MYSJSU account. • Students need to check MySJSU account regularly at http://my.sjsu.edu. • Activate your MySJSU account by going to http://sjsuone.sjsu.edu. Click on “Activate Your Account” to begin the process (you will need your SJSU ID, date of birth, and mailing zip code to activate your MySJSU) • View My Messages • Check To-Do List • Update Contact Information
