  1. The Sun Austin Pectol

  2. Introduction • The Sun is a main sequence star that is the center of our solar system and gives our planet and planets around ours light and heat.

  3. How Big Is The Sun? • The Sun’s radius is an incredible 700,000 kilometers. This is more than 100 times the radius of Earth.

  4. The Sun’s Interior • The inner most layer of our Sun is of course the core and is the hottest layer at 15 Million Kelvin • The Radiation Zone is next at 10 Million Kelvin • The coolest layer of the Sun’s Interior is the Convection Zone which is a whopping 500,000 Kelvin

  5. The Sun’s Atmosphere • The Photosphere is the lowest layer of the atmosphere and is the visible surface of the sun. • The middle layer of the atmosphere is the Chromosphere with temperatures reaching 10,000 Kelvin. • The top layer of the Sun’s atmosphere is the Corona, past this you’ll find the solar wind.

  6. Sunspots • Sunspots are cool spots on the sun’s surface that appear to be black from the Earth. Each tiny spot is big enough to swallow the Earth whole.

  7. The Sun is Not on Fire • Our Sun appears to us to be a flaming ball of fire in the sky. When in fact, the Sun is experiencing on going Nuclear Fusion which gives off immense temperatures and rays of light and X-Rays.

  8. How Does Nuclear Fusion Occur In The Sun? • Two things are required for Nuclear Fusion to take place, immense pressure and heat. The Sun’s core has both of these things, making it a breading ground for fusion.

  9. Our Sun is Our Light and Our Life • The Sun is our source of light and heat and life. It gives plants warmth they need to live and creates photosynthesis. Without the sun we surely would perish.

  10. Conclusion • There is much more to be learned about from the Sun and we surely could not know all the secrets of the Star that is in the center of our Solar System.
