  1. Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP) Information Session

Background • The Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP) promotes economic development in rural eastern Ontario leading to a diversified and competitive rural economy; economic stability, growth and job creation; and contributing to successful development of businesses and prosperous communities.

  3. Objectives EODP focus on two priority areas: Community Innovation • Business Development • Business Planning • Skills Development • Innovation, Information, and Communications Technologies (ICT) • Youth Retention • Investment Attraction

  4. Eligible Project Funding Recipients Include: Commercial enterprises including individuals, corporations, partnerships, cooperatives, or trusts; Non‐profit organizations including municipalities and municipal organizations, corporations, community economic development organizations, and; Aboriginal organizations. OR,

Business Development Business Planning: support initiatives which lead to the growth of new and existing businesses. • Research and development initiatives • Business plan and marketing plan development • Development of export plans and activities • Feasibility studies • Strategic plans • Technology enhancement initiatives, • And other activities designed to stimulate business opportunities

  6. Business Development Business Planning PELA CFDC Contributions • Maximum Contribution of 75% of the project costs up to $5000 • All funds must be expended by March 15th, 2013

Business Development Skills Development: THE PURPOSE OF THE FUND IS TO SUPPORT INITIATIVES THAT DEVELOP THE LABOUR FORCE TO MEET THE EVOLING NEEDS OF THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY, ENCOURAGE NEW LOCAL ENTREPRENEURS AND ATTRACT EXTERNAL INVESTMENT. • On-the job training, • In-house or outsourced classroom training, • Business management skills development, • Network management training, • Attendance to workshops, seminars.

Business Development SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PELA CFDC Contribution • Not-For-Profit are Eligible for up to 75% of project costs • For Profit are Eligible for up to 50% of project costs • Maximum contributions to any one employ will not normally exceed $5000 • Maximum contributions of $25000 available to any one recipient • Funds must be expended by March 15th, 2013

  9. YOUTH ATTRATION: FOCUSES ON SUPPLEMENTING THE FINANCIAL RESOURCES REQUIRED TO EMPLY YOUTH INTERNS. Business Development • Interns will normally be graduates with a degree, diploma or certificate • Be under 30 years of age • Typically Interns will be employed in one of the following business: • business and trade opportunity development; strategic planning, feasibility and marketing studies; marketing projects; research and analysis; training programs; technological innovation including commercialization in new technologies

Business Development YOUTH ATTRACTION PELA CFDC Contribution • Not-For-Profit are Eligible for up to 75% of project costs • For Profit are Eligible for up to 50% of project costs • Maximum contributions to any one employ will not normally exceed $15000 • Maximum contributions of $25000 available to any one recipient • Funds must be expended by March 15th, 2013 • Intern Projects/positions normally do not exceed 12 months • Eligible Activities do not include administrative or operational activities

Business Development Innovation and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT): supports the adoption of new and innovative technologies for businesses located in rural eastern Ontario. • Research, development initiatives, and commercialization activities • Technology, ICT and Knowledge Based Economic studies and business plans • Technology enhancement initiatives (website enhancements, e-commerce, e-learning), ICT infrastructure projects etc

  12. Business Development Innovation and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) PELA CFDC Contributions Maximum Contribution of 75% of the projects costs up to $10000 All funds must be expended by March 15th, 2013

Community Innovation Community-based economic development projects o research and development initiatives marketing and promotional activities tourism events export and trade initiatives facilitation or hosting seminars / workshops small scale construction or physical works other activities in support of economic development

  14. Community Innovation PELA CFDC Contributions • Maximum Contribution of 75% of the projects costs up to $100,000 • All funds must be expended by March 15th, 2013

  15. Funding • Fund availability varies between project category. • PELA CFDC contributions typically require a minimum 25% applicant CASH contribution for Non-for-Profit organizations and a minimum 50% applicant cash contribution for Private sector organizations. • For more information on funding opportunities, please visit our website.
