Shot-1 & Shot-2 Summary Stony Brook Crew
Weekly Shots • We shoot one photo-cathode each week. • The “completeness” of the process grows each week. • We now have two shots since the start of this mode of operation. • Here we’ll summarize results from both. Bill Andrzej
Shot-1 (Bill Anderson) • Assembly of GEM into Evap box on Laminar table. • 100 V continuity & short test. • Evaporation box inserted with Lid-on (no nubs!!) • Evaporation after “water drop” from RGA. • Local QE only…no chicklets. Water starts here Water ends here
Shot-2 (Andrzej Lipski) • RailRoad on Lift Table • Controlled insertion. • Controlled flip. • High-Vacuum Feedthroughs on exaporation box: • FULLY sealed insertion/removal. • Near-final HV testing station. • Vaccuum Storage System: • Shakedown over. • 4 x 10-7 torr. • In use next shot. • 3 Chicklets! Damn Good Vacuum in Evaporator
Local QE results. • Interestingly these tests are HIGHER QE than the local system produced in the past: • Known improvement is waiting for the water drop…significant? • However, system is still unstable. • Need QE of chicklets from this evaporation.
Next Shot Goals: • Pizza Boxes for sets: • (Gem-Gem-AuGEM-Grid) • Back & forth to High Vacuum storage. • Gain Tests (w/o CsI) • New Wiring on local QE system. • Check-lists mounted on hardware. • Rich Lefferts runs show. New Student (Thomas Videbaek) will rewire this system
Next Next Shot • Final QE Circuitry: • Multi-channel for 4 GEMs at once. • Low noise. • no sensitivity to where people stand. • Base Plate Mods: • Real bananas • Extra space milled out for leads. • Gain Test of freshly evaporated GEM. • Transfer in air on Laminar Table (quickly).
Miscellaneous-1 • Top GEM was “rubbed” by cross-pieces of grid during shipping. • No other GEM showed damage.
