School of Nursing Reaccreditation November 9-11, 2009 • Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, master’s and the doctorate in nursing practice programs. • Voluntary process • Goal: improve and enhance educational programs for professional nursing students.

2. Reaccreditation process • Preparation of self study document • Gathering of supporting documentation • Site visit by review team that includes observation of classes and clinicals, review of supporting documentation, meeting with key campus leaders, community partners and SON faculty/staff and students

3. Your role in reaccreditation • Be present – greet visitors, attend sessions if requested • Be aware of the Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice and other standards • Be prepared to share your experience in the nursing program

7. Essential #1:Liberal Education Outcome • Acquire the foundations for living a productive life and being a citizen of the world by developing reasoning and communication skills.

Essential #2: Professional Values Outcomes • Develop the foundation for a professional self-concept and begin role socialization for professional nursing practice. • Apply legal and ethical concepts and processes in the analysis of clinical situations. •  Discuss strategies that promote the quality of working life for health care professionals.
