Example – IM • How many of you have a cell phone? Do you text message? • How many of you are careful about what you say or do online? • How many of you have received a message that made you feel bad?

  4. What is Bullying? is the act of intentionally causing unhappiness to others through verbal harassment or physical assault

  5. What is Cyberbullying: Cyber bullying is the use of Internet e-mail, instant messaging, chat rooms, pagers, cell phones, or other forms of information technology to deliberately and repeatedly hurt, taunt, ridicule, threaten or intimidate someone. It is 21st Century bullying!!

  6. Quote from a pupil: “I felt that no-one understood what I was going through. I didn’t know who was sending me these messages, and I felt powerless to know what to do.”

  7. Video: "Let's Fight It Together" Developed by Childnet at the beginning of 2007 to provide a resource that would bring issues dealing with Cyberbullying into the context where you could see the impact and effects on people. The purpose of the film is to eliminate Cyberbullying

  8. Discussion Questions: Think of one word to describe how the film made you feel. Why do you think Joe was bullied? What different means were used to bully Joe? Joe deleted one of his text messages he received. Was this the right thing to do? What is the one thing you could do to stop cyberbullying? Who would you tell if you were concerned about something that happened online? Why were the police called?
