  2. What Is ExportQ ? • Written by Library Systems Office • Used with Voyager Cataloging • Two main functions • Facilitates record exporting • Generates warning messages

  3. Downloading ExportQ • Download using PCAmigo • Instructions: http://www.library.yale.edu/lso/workstation/docs/exportq/

  4. Opening ExportQ • Icon location: Start>Programs>Voyager>Cataloging with ExportQ • Icon opens both Voyager and ExportQ

  5. Moving the ExportQ Window • ExportQ can sit on top of Voyager • Can be moved around desktop • Can be minimized and maximized • Minimized window available in task bar

  6. Voyager Record Number • Bib record number displays in ExportQ • If multiple bib records open, displays the ID of the active record • Can copy and paste ID if desired

  7. Warning Message! • Check ExportQ before editing bib record • Don’t edit if see red warning message! • Editing MFHD and item records is okay

  8. Exporting Bib Records • Not all staff do exporting • Don’t export without permission!

  9. Export Destinations • RLIN, OCLC, and MARS • RLIN and OCLC are copy cataloging databases • MARS is an authority control service

  10. What Warning Messages Mean • Warning message means record • not yet returned from MARS or • not yet loaded back in Voyager • If you ignore warning message, your changes will be overlaid!

  11. Starting MARS Extracts Soon! • Have not been sending records to MARS since we moved to Voyager • Plan to start next week • Warning messages will start appearing

  12. Closing ExportQ • Closing Voyager Cataloging automatically closes ExportQ too • Can close ExportQ separately but not recommended

  15. Selecting Export Destinations • All three boxes checked by default • Clicking a box will clear it • Can keep your settings for the remainder of your session only

  16. “Send” Button • Sends record ID to queue (not record) • Record is not taken until Systems Office does batch extract • Cannot “send” a record twice in one session • Systems Office will send latest version of record when doing extract

  17. “Show History” Button • Lists all record IDs exported during a single session • Does not retain record IDs from previous sessions • Can copy and paste export history

  19. Exporting Policies

  20. Which Records Get Exported • Only fully cataloged records • No in-process, order, or backlog records • No records that have NACO work pending

  22. Cataloging Done in Orbis • Send to RLIN, OCLC, and MARS • If OCLC BatchMatch record, send to RLIN and MARS only • If manuscripts and archives record, send to RLIN and MARS only

  23. Cataloging Done in RLIN • If Chinese, Japanese, or Korean: import into Orbis and send to OCLC and MARS • If Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, or Yiddish: import into Orbis and send to OCLC only

  24. Record Updates • If adding new access points to a fully cataloged record, re-export to MARS • Special collections records may also be re-exported to RLIN if desired • Other updated records should not be re-exported

  25. Extract Schedule • Weekly record extracts • Extract records on Mondays • Send to MARS on Tuesdays • Receive back and load by Thursdays • Recommend finishing NACO authority records every Friday (if independent)
