Mission • In partnership with 160 countries worldwide, Fulbright offers passionate and accomplished faculty, administrator, artists, journalists, lawyers, and other professionals from all backgrounds an unparalleled opportunity to study, teach, or conduct research. • Our mission: foster mutual understanding between nations, advance knowledge across communities, and improve lives around the world • A Brief History • Established in 1946 by Congress, Fulbright is the United States government’s flagship international educational and cultural exchange program. • Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by the Institute of International Education.

Strategy: Inclusion • Shared Mission in Increasing Mutual Understanding • Spanning the scope of Higher Education, Geography, Ethnicity, Socio-Economic Factors At the CENTER of this Enterprise is the Scholar Program • “The Scholar Program is strategic, its multiplier effect is unmatched, it builds relationships, leverages networks, and all other DOS/ECA programs can be viewed as springing from this endeavor of higher educational exchange.”

Resources: Scholar Liaisons & FPA Networks • Advocates • 1500 unique institutions in all 50 states and territories • 2000+ individuals • Hosts to 100+ IIE staff visits, 300+ Outreach Lectures and 70+ Alumni Ambassador Presentations Annually • Up to three per campus, usually senior administrator, faculty development or sponsored/international programs, and/or program alumni • Trainings 3-6 times per year, spring and fall mailings of materials for promotion • New Innovation: Strategic Alliances

Opportunities: OLF & Alumni Ambassadors Outreach Lecturing Fund • Short term lectureships for Visiting Scholars already in the US • Speakers bureau for anything related to international or cultural affairs • Roundtrip airfare - travel allowance when requested • TARGET AUDIENCE: Institutions without robust international exchange programs, those with well established programs are still welcome to partner! Alumni Ambassadors • Travel, hotel and honorarium for appointed U.S. Fulbright Scholars to share the impact of their Fulbright experience • IIE Board of Trustee Initiative and Sponsored

Opportunities: Scholar-In-Residence & FLTA • Scholar-in-Residence (S-I-R) Program • U.S. institutions can bring visiting scholars to teach undergraduate course loads for a semester or full academic year • Institutionally driven by U.S. institutions • Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program • Supports language assistantships at universities and colleges throughout the U.S. with young professional native speakers
