  3. Energy Efficiency is the percentage of energy that does useful work

  4. Calculation • % efficiency = useful energy out / useful energy in multiplied by 100 • More than 40% of all commercial energy in the US is wasted

  5. Hybrid cars • Small efficient gasoline engine • Electric motor when needed • Convert braking energy to electricity • Turn off when idling • Lightweight and aerodynamic

  6. Cogeneration • Production of two useful forms of energy from one source

  7. Energy Conservation • Mostly common sense, that for a little effort will save lots of money
