  1. Philippians 4:11-13 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

  3. Luke 17:1-3 Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come. It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble. So watch yourselves.

  4. Luke 17:3-4 So watch yourselves.  “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”

  5. Luke 17:5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”

  6. Luke 17:6 He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.

  7. Luke 17:7 “Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, ‘Come along now and sit down to eat’?

  8. Luke 17:8 Won’t he rather say, ‘Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink’?

  9. Luke 17:9 Will he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do?

  10. Luke 17:10 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’”

  11. 4 Warnings: • Causing others to sin… • Lack of charity… • Lack of faith… • Desire for praise & reward…

  12. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.  Let all that you do be done with love.

  13. Watch • Elders are to watch out for our souls… • We should be watching for the parousia… (puh-roo-zee-uh), pahr-oo-see-uh • Watch for opportunities to teach others… • Watch for false teachers… • Watch our temper and our speech…

  14. Stand Fast in the Faith • Requires the Full/Whole armor… • Confidence comes from Christ… • Olweus principal, “Take A Stand, Lend A Hand”

  15. Be Brave (be a Man) • It’s time to grow up… • Again, it’s about trusting in our Lord…

  16. Be Strong • Being strong comes from a confidence in God’s word, it’s like being ready for the BIG TEST that you studied for… • Think of the Bible as a “Pensieve” from God…, “but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it.”

  17. Do All Things With Love • Love defines God more completely than any single word can and it should describe and define His people as well. • The challenge here is found in our ability as God’s people to love the unlovable, our enemies, those that would do us harm…

  18. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.  Let all that you do be done with love.

  19. I would also add this • We should see being “Thankful” towards our Lord as a duty. We have a duty to Praise and Worship our God. • Luke 17:11-19… • I knew a man who killed for me… Joe Jirsak • Today I want to introduce you to a man that died for you…
