What is United Streaming? • Digital video-based learning resource from Discovery Education. • On-demand access to 50,000 content-specific segments from 5,000 full-length videos and over 20,000 images. • Used in more than half of the schools in the United States reaching more than 30 million students. • Five year contract: 2005 – 2010.
United Streaming Subscriptions Provide: • Largest and most current K-12 digital video/video segment library available today. • Only standards-based video-on-demand application shown to increase student achievement. • Practical and easy-to-use learning resources for students and educators. • Access to the highest quality producers – including Discover School, United Learning, Scholastic, Standard Deviants, and Weston Woods. • State-of-the-Art Professional Development sessions for online and onsite support.
How Do I Access It? What Do I Need? • www.unitedstreaming.com • United Streaming Representative at your school. -Set up Account for new users -Retrieve login and password from account previously setup in your name. -Free 30 day trial through website, OR login: csvteacher, password: csvteacher (temporary)
Update!!! • Go to: http://www.aptv.org to login to United Streaming. APT is monitoring the usage of United Streaming and it is important that they see we are using the site. • Click on Register Now to use APTPlus at the bottom of the page and follow the instructions. • You’ll use your same username and password for United Streaming.
Lesson Plan Library • More than 200 lesson plans designed for unitedstreaming videos.
Embedding Video Segments • Locate the video segment you want • Save it (be sure you know where it’s going when you save it. You’ll need to retrieve it. Also rename it if you need to.) • Set up your slide in PPT, click on Insert, Movies and Sounds, Movies from File. Navigate to your video clip, double click to insert it and save your slide.
Hyperlink • Download Video Segment to a designated folder. (Again, be sure you know where it’s going!) • It is recommended that you save your revised Word document or Powerpoint in the same folder. • Highlight the text or select the image on the page that you wish to use for the hyperlink • Go to “Insert” “Hyperlink” • Click to select the video file that you wish to link. • Click OK when finished.
