India- Overview • Growth Rate-5.5% Q1- 2012-13. • World Bank projects growth rate at 6% for 2012-13. • Cargo forecast at ports- around 2302 MT in 5 years time. • Ministry of shipping is investing around $13.55 billion in ports. • India has announced $110 billion package to develop its ports and shipyards by 2020. • Indian ports - crossed 1 billion tonnes mark in terms of cargo handling capacity. • Under new regulation -100% FDI in ports and other sectors. Shipyards • No of shipyards- 28. • Total turnover of shipyards in 2010- $1.6 billion -expected to double in next five years. • Key Shipyards-( Two Stroke) • Pipavav Shipyard. • Delivered their 3rd Panamax to Golden Ocean. They are looking forward to build the panamax cancelled by AVGI owners. Out of 22 panamax booked earlier they have 8 remaining on their order list. Rest all were cancelled.The quality of the vessel was of high quality and Golden Ocean were quite appreciative and would order more in future. • ABG Shipyard. • Order book of $ 3mn. Huge backlog of vessel ordered around 32 no's(bulkers) of which 2x54k are delivered.
