Primary production group • Data exchange: field chl, PP, nutrients, satellite chl; simulated PP (2 models), DOC; • Products = Papers (within lifetime of projects): • Model (2 = McGuire-Zhang), data (4 = 14C-PP, nuts, chl, satellite; Matrai) marine PP comparison (3 projects: McGuire-Zhang-Matrai) • Ocean model-model PP comparison (2 projects: McGuire-Zhang) (beyond lifetime and scope of project) • Marine-land PP (McGuire et al. project) • Land-land PP (McGuire-Walker) • New Results • predict PP values for regions where gaps exist • use standard IPCC scenarios

Primary production group • Needed: • Time, additional resources, small working workshop(s) with computers, and/or teleconferencing • FUTURE NEED= Fully coupled, community, high latitude snow-ice-ocean-land-atmosphere model • Cool model runs in future proposals: • with decreased insulation or albedo • with increased grazing

  4. Primary production Gaps: • Partitioning of panarctic sources of cDOM (where is it coming from?) • Bioavailability of DOM • Chl partitioning between ice algae and phytoplankton • PP controls • Top down trophic controls • N cycling (land - rivers - ocean)
