  1. The Economic and Social Council The Council's 54 member Governments are elected by the General Assembly for overlapping three-year terms. The world’s economic, social and environmental challenges are EOSOC’s concern. The Council holds regular meetings throughout the year with prominent academics, business sector representatives and 3,200+ registered non-governmental organizations.

  2. NGO’s • Non-governmental organizations simply means the “nonprofit” sector. • Non-governmental organizations are the focus of ECOSOC. • Most focus is on pressing development challenges such as employment, education, health, etc. • UNICEF is one of the United Nations committees designed by the UN for the purpose of helping people of the world.
