  1. Instrux: A Cloud based Energy Monitoring Solution Hashim Raza Khan PhD Senior Manager Instrumentation Centre smic@neduet.edu.pk Department of Electronic Engineering

  2. Synopsis Introduction of Instrumentation Centre Motivation Instrux Features Work in Progress Conclusion Department of Electronic Engineering

  3. Instrumentation Centre Established in 2005 through HEC funding for instrumentation related services to industry and academia 2005-2014: Supporting role for departments of NED University 2014 onwards: Services to the industry & academia Department of Electronic Engineering

  4. Scope Training Calibration Test & Measurement Services Repair Design and Development Services Department of Electronic Engineering

  5. Motivation • Large installed base of energy analyzers in process industry and commercial buildings • Multi-vendor equipment base • Proprietary monitoring software from vendors • Demand from multiple clients to provide a unifying solution to • Remotely monitor energy utilization from a single platform • Visualize energy utilization across sub processes/places over time • Provision to keep a check on energy consumption achieving greater energy conservation Department of Electronic Engineering

  6. Instrux: Online Energy Monitoring System • Cloud based energy monitoring & analysis system • Compatible with most brands of energy analyzers! • Monitor energy from one dashboard interface • Business Intelligence (billing, costing of processes/operations/services, prediction) Cloud Server Interfacing Circuit Energy Analyzers Department of Electronic Engineering

  7. Instrux: Dashboard • Energy Analyzers from different vendors, present at different locations can be viewed on a single dashboard • Live monitoring, trends, billing information, etc can be viewed on individual basis Department of Electronic Engineering

  8. Instrux: Real Time Monitoring • Real Time Monitoring of key electrical parameters in text and gauge form • Visual intimation of safe range of parameters • Limited by the capability of the energy analyzer Department of Electronic Engineering

  9. Instrux: Charts • Visualization of electrical parameters over time Department of Electronic Engineering

  10. Instrux: Charts User friendly and intuitive interface Department of Electronic Engineering

  11. Instrux: Charts Possibility to make useful inferences Department of Electronic Engineering

  12. Instrux: Billing Calculate the estimated energy cost over a month or any other period Department of Electronic Engineering

  13. Instrux: Business Intelligence Energy cost of any interval on daily/monthly basis Helps to determine the energy cost of a process/service Department of Electronic Engineering

  14. Instrux: Alert Management Generates email based alerts based on electrical parameter monitoring and/or budget constraint Department of Electronic Engineering

  15. Instrux: Work in Progress • Improved alerts & reporting • Location based organization and aggregation support for large scale deployment • User management panel upgradation • Improved bill prediction using machine learning techniques and additional data such as ambient temparature • Support for solar inverters interfacing and PV system related analytics Department of Electronic Engineering

  16. Conclusion • Instrux: Best solution for remote monitoring of energy consumption because • Low cost • Indigenous  Better support • Uninterrupted access  Cloud server • Highly customizable Department of Electronic Engineering

  17. Thank You Department of Electronic Engineering
