  1. Internet • Lingua Franca, kaikkien ymmärtämä yhteinen kieli: TCP/IP tai UDP/IP. ”Kaikki maaiman tietokoneet, liittykää yhteen”. • Suomeen 1990-luvun alussa. Ensin yliopistoihin ja korkeakouluihin (FUNET). Sieltä teollisuuteen ja 2000 lähtien koteihin. • ”Kaikkialle ulottuva Internet”. Joka paikan tietotekniikka UBI.

  2. WWW • Graafinen selain ja WWW-palvelimet kehitettiin 90-luvun puolivälissä. HTML merkkauskieli. • HTTP protokolla syrjäyttänyt sovelluksissa telnet, FTP, Gopher, WAIS jne. protokollasovellukset. • Jopa sähköposti (ennen SMTP protokolla) on siirtynyt WWW-sisällöksi (HTML). • Nyt puhutaan jo Web 2.0:sta, sosiaalisesta mediasta (Portaalit, Blogit, Wikit, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube)
