Introduction

This survey provides an overview of the commercial enforcement and insolvency systems in different regions, including Sub-Saharan Africa, East Asia and South Asia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean. The survey examines the use of reorganization as an alternative to liquidation, the court-supervised processes of reorganization and liquidation, international treaties on insolvency matters, enacted international model laws on insolvency, mechanisms for cooperation of domestic courts in international insolvency cases, and countries currently considering legislative reform.
